The son of a chief marries the most intelligent and beautiful girl in the tribe. After many years of marriage he comes home one day to find his wife ill and she eventually dies. Her body is taken away for burial and pining for his lost love, very early next morning, he put on his leggings and set off into the forest and walked through that day and the following night. He comes to a valley and proceeds to walk down it?s length until he comes to a lake that stretched the width of the valley. On the far side is a large encampment. He calls out and a canoe comes to ferry him across. Wandering through the encampment he finds his wife who seems altogether different. His wife warns him not to eat and in the depth of the night they make their escape and return to his village. While his wife still prepares and cooks the food, she no longer eats or drinks.
