Modi OBC Politics Book PDF Summary

This book tells the story of the welfare of India's OBC community and the unprecedented role the Narendra Modi-led BJP government has played in uplifting the community from a socially and marginalised position in the country. As the demand to hold the nationwide caste-census gains political purchase in the contemporary political scene, it is only reasonable to understand and excavate the causes of OBCs underrepresentation in Indian politics and society. This book attempts to fill this lacuna by taking into consideration the issues of OBC welfare and empowerment in the post-independence period. It argues that successive governments in this period did not do justice to the aspirations of the OBC community until the Narendra Modi government ascended to power in 2014 and overhauled the prevailing social and economic justice agenda by launching an ambitious welfare network. The book charts down the story of various steps that the Modi government has taken at policy levels to improve the marginalised conditions of backward classes in the country. The book, among other things, would allow the readers to navigate through the complex history of OBC politics in the country and would provide them a comprehensive picture of why the interests of the OBC masses were not taken seriously by the post-independence leadership of grand old party, Congress.
