A new 2023 translation of Sigmund Freud's 1928 essay titled "Dostoevsky and the Killing of the Father" (original title: "Dostojewski und die Vatertötung”) which comments on Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamazov. This is sometimes translated into English as "Dostoevsky and the Murder of the Father" or "Dostoevsky and Patricide". This obscure manuscript is a fascinating commentary on Dostoevsky by Freud. This volume also includes Freud's important work "A Devil's Neurosis in the Seventeenth Century" which further comments on the father complex and the devil as a substitute for the father, and his 1908 "The Poet and Fantasizing" in order to give a more robust view of Freud's commentary on Dostoevsky.
