In The Telling Wall, the sequel to Leone Mary Britt's first novel An Inch of Love, An Inch of Ashes, the main character Calinda Carruthers continues on her troubled little sojourn through time. Her daughter Diana is diagnosed with a mental illness and things look grim. Things gradually change for her as she struggles to help her daughter, and to find some peace amid the chaos. When circumstances teach her to fight she is eventually forced, by her need to make things right, to confront the most powerful members of society to reclaim her own power.
